Frida Kahlo: The Making of an Icon has opened at Tate Modern in London, running from 25 June 2026 to 3 January 2027. Already Tate’s highest pre-selling exhibition on record, with more than 35,000 tickets sold before opening, it traces how Kahlo was transformed after her death into a global brand.

The London edition gathers over 130 works, including paintings, garments, jewellery and personal memorabilia. It follows the show’s first iteration at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (18 January – 17 May 2026), curated by Mari Carmen Ramírez, which set some thirty Kahlo paintings against works by five generations of artists she influenced.
